NCSTAC was established in 1998 by a grant from the Center for Mental Health Services. Our purpose is to strengthen consumer organizations by providing technical assistance in the form of research, informational materials, and financial aid.


Mental Health America 2008 Conference Scholarship

Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS) is providing financial support to consumers of mental health services who would like to participate in the Mental Health America Annual Conference. Community Needs Assessment Now Available

Consumer EmpowermentThe National Consumer-Supporter Technical Assistance Center (NCSTAC), a Mental Health America project funded by SAMHSA’s Center for Mental Health Services, has published The NCSTAC Community Needs Assessment (pdf) to assist mental health stakeholders in their efforts to become effective change agents in their communities.

The assessment tool was developed for use by consumer-run organizations but is a useful guide for any group, organization or coalition seeking to transform their local or state mental health system.
